Press Release Author = John Lundholm, M.A., RN

Industry = Healthcare

Press Release Summary = In a profession with few universal standards hypnosis
practice groups provide a setting for practitioners to learn from and challenge each
other to develop skills.

Press Release Body = Today there are numerous options for someone wanting to learn
hypnosis. Unfortunately there is little consistency in the quality of training
programs and what it means to be \"certified\" as a hypnotist. One solution is
hypnosis practice groups. Practice groups provide a setting for individuals with
various levels training and/or education in hypnosis to practice their skills, or
research theories, using willing volunteers from the group.

According to group organizer and facilitator John Lundholm (www.ChangeDynamics.net),
an Idaho hypnotherapist with over 23 years of experience in hypnosis. \"As the
public\'s interest in hypnosis grows it is increasingly important for practitioners
to work together to promote the best service possible. A hypnosis practice group
provides a means for those in our profession to learn from and challenge each
other.\"

Twenty-five years ago when Lundholm was earning his masters degree in counseling
psychology his professor advised him not to waste his time studying hypnosis. In
fact, no such study was available at the university he was attending. Rather than
follow the professor\'s advice he sought training outside of his degree program.
Very little was available. Fortunately he found a practicing psychologist willing to
train him and a group of fellow students.

\"My training was only open to those in a graduate program, and involved six months
of education and practice,\" reports Lundholm; \"Today there are organizations that
will certify people with no psychology or medical education after a weekend training
program. And that is a great disservice to the public.\"

As an additional benefit, when these groups include healthcare professionals, such
as licensed Therapists, Psychologists, Nurses, or Physicians medical or
psychological issues that might be missed by a hypnotist without such a background
can be addressed.
